WHO WE ARE
The Museo Etrusco di Chianciano Terme is one of the most original exhibitions on Etruscan civilization. Chianciano is situated in south-east Tuscany in the province of Siena and located on the hilly ridge that separates the Val di Chiana from the Val d’Orcia. The surrounding region is home to some of Tuscany’s most important medieval and Renaissance pearls such as Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico, Montalcino and Città della Pieve to name just a few. In this case the term ‘museum’ really is an inadequate and misleading description for what visitors will see and experience as they pass through its rooms. Here you can rediscover the various aspects of Etruscan civilization through a route designed to elicit emotion with videos, sounds and voices. It will be possible to admire objects belonging to our ancient forefathers in a setting linked to their function and location. Therefore the banquet section contains authentic objects contextualized to the functions that they performed. So even the tombs are presented not as a sequence of objects but inserted in the context of rituality and sacredness of the Etruscan afterlife.
